What Pantry items to Have in Your RV Kitchen

On your RV travels, you will want to predominantly cook for yourself. Not only is it more cost effective, but it adds to your RV experiences.

Thus, having your pantry covered with essentials is a must.

To help you, we have included a checklist that you may want to print and keep on file. We have left a couple of lines for you to include that are specific to your household needs.

Fridge Basics

  • Butter
  • 1 Litre UHT milks (dairy, almond, soy, etc)
  • Yoghurt (snack size and tub size)
  • Cheese hard and soft (avoid buying already grated variety as it takes too much room) e.g., Colby, Philadelphia
  • Eggs
  • Bacon
  • Meat (although meat is one item you will have to stock up, on the way, on a regular basis)

Pantry Basics 

FruitsFruits (whether fresh or frozen especially the ones you can use to make smoothies and are easy to grab and munch e.g., banana, apples, peaches etc)
Sauces/CondimentsBalsamic, pasta sauces (preferably in sachets), tomato/BBQ/ etc sauces, mustard, soy sauce, sweet chilli, mayonnaise, pesto, salt and pepper.
Dried herbs/foodsChoose your favourites. Our favourite is basic, thyme, oregano, smoked paprika, chilli, ground cumin, mushroom.
Stock cubesVegetable, chicken and beef.
OilChoose your favourites. Ours is quality olive oil, vegetable and avocado.
SpreadsPeanut butter, jams, honey and our favourite, vegemite.

Dry Foods 

CerealsSmall boxes of your favourite variety, sachets of different flavoured oats
Breads/rolesTake as many as you can. Remember you can always make your own damper
Biscuits/snacks and cakesFor morning and afternoon snacks
FlourWholemeal, almond, corn
PastaAll sorts.
RiceChoose your favourite.
Canned foodsTuna, beans (red kidney, chickpeas, mixed), tomato, beetroot etcBaked beans, coconut milk. Small tins preferably to avoid having problems with storing them once open.
Seasoning mixesChilli con carne, continental varieties, curry paste etc
JarsCrushed garlic, ginger, marinated olives.
VegetablesTomatoes, cucumbers, onions, broccoli, Bok choy, carrots, baby spinach, lemons, peppers, potato, sweet potato, etc
BeveragesCoffee, tea, sugar, herbal variety, milo, bottled water, juice, your alcoholic choices.
